INTRODUCTION
Established in 1967 in Chiba, Japan, as a Western-style coffee shop with only eight counter seats, the restaurant embarked on a major transformation in 1973 by transitioning to a family-style Italian dining concept. A bold move to reduce all menu prices by one-third marked a turning point—leading to widespread popularity and rapid growth. Today, the brand operates over 1,500 locations across Japan and Asia, known for its operational excellence, central kitchen model, and unwavering focus on delivering high-quality, affordable meals.
“HOSHIZAKI IMPRESSED US WITH BOTH PRODUCT QUALITY AND FAST, RELIABLE SUPPORT – EVEN UNDER TIGHT DEADLINES.”
MR. MASUDA (Director)
Following more than a decade of focused expansion across China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, Vietnam marked a strategic new chapter in Saizeriya’s international growth. The market was selected for its young population, rapidly growing F&B sector, and increasing appetite for Japanese cuisine.
To replicate the same high-quality experience as in Japan, Saizeriya implemented several core practices in its Vietnam operations:
- Central Kitchen System: Most food is prepared at the headquarters kitchen; stores only handle finishing using ovens-no knives or pans-ensuring consistency and safety.
- Focus on Cost Performance: From sourcing to logistics, every process is optimized to maintain quality while keeping prices accessible—even amid global cost pressures.
- Food Safety & Transparency: Nutrition and allergen information is clearly displayed to meet customer expectations and uphold Japanese safety standards.
- Efficient Store Operations: Layouts and workflows are streamlined to reduce staffing needs while preserving service quality—helpful in addressing labor shortages.
“We’re planning to open more stores in Vietnam, and we see Hoshizaki as a long-term partner in this journey—their ability to supply the same equipment models we use across our international locations helps us maintain operational consistency and protect our brand integrity” — shared Mr. Masuda.
As a trusted kitchen equipment provider, Hoshizaki played a vital role in the launch—offering early-stage layout planning, cross-brand equipment coordination, and prompt installation. Their responsiveness and flexibility helped ensure a smooth opening.
