INTRODUCTION
The Japanese Highball Bar 1923 Krung Thep is a tribute to Japan’s whisky heritage and highball culture. Inspired by the founding year of Japan’s first whisky distillery, this bar offers a meticulously crafted drinking experience featuring crisp, refreshing highballs and authentic Japanese bar bites.

In the heart of Bangkok’s Thonglor district, The Japanese Highball Bar 1923 Krung Thep (TJHB) has carved out a niche as a sanctuary for whisky lovers and highball purists. Inspired by the legacy of Japan’s first whisky distillery, the bar blends tradition with innovation – offering a curated selection of Japanese whiskies and a food menu designed to complement the crisp, refreshing highball.
To maintain the highest standards of quality and consistency, TJHB relies entirely on Hoshizaki’s kitchen equipment — a decision rooted in both trust and performance.
“We place great importance on the quality of our ingredients,” says Mr. Max, Head Chef at TJHB. “Maintaining freshness is critical, so we needed refrigeration that could keep a uniform temperature even with frequent door openings. Hoshizaki delivers exactly that.”
The bar is equipped with four key Hoshizaki products: a vertical refrigerator, a horizontal refrigerator, an ice maker, and a dishwasher. These tools are essential not only for food preparation but also for preserving the integrity of the bar’s signature drinks.
One standout feature is the table-type refrigerated showcase used to chill highball glasses. As bartender Ms. New explains, “The temperature of the glass directly affects the taste and quality of the highball. We chose Hoshizaki’s showcase because it recovers temperature quickly, even during busy hours.”
The ice maker also plays a starring role. “We’ve used Hoshizaki’s ice maker since day one,” says Mr. Max. “The ice is crystal-clear, uniform in size, and there’s no condensation inside the machine. It’s perfect for both food prep and cocktails.”
Even the dishwasher has earned praise – not just for its cleaning power, but for its drying and sterilizing capabilities. When a minor issue arose during installation, it was resolved swiftly with remote support from Hoshizaki’s service team.
With plans underway to open a second location at The Commons Sala Daeng, TJHB is doubling down on its commitment to Hoshizaki.
